SICKKIDS FOUNDATION PRINTS
Hello Friends,
My name is Murray Henderson and I am proud to say that art is my life and my passion. From my studio in Peterborough, Ontario, I’ve had the privilege and honor of painting and producing prints for many different fundraisers.
One of my prints with the National Hockey League displayed some of the toughest hockey players of all time. This print was used to raise funds for the NHL’s charity Hockey Fights Cancer. I have also produced prints with Don Cherry for the Rose Cherry Home for Kids, the Darren McCarty Cancer Foundation and many additional charities of choice for other prominent sports figures.
But of all my works of art for worthwhile causes, none hits closer to home for me than my most recent one. On February 8, 2008, our family was rocked with some frightening news: My 15-year-old daughter, Courtney, was rushed to the Hospital for Sick Kids where she was diagnosed with a rare form of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
After spending 16 days at Sick Kids, I was so impressed with the staff, volunteers and the facility that I felt I had to do something special. So I contacted Will Mackenzie from the Sick Kids Foundation and offered a couple of my paintings to help raise funds for the hospital’s priority needs and Oncology departments.
My proposal was approved. I received permission to use the name Sick Kids Foundation and its logo in developing a fundraising project that means so much to our family. The NHL has also granted me permission to use its Original Six logos as they are visible in one of the prints.
Both prints I’ve produced for this involves my main subject in art – hockey – along with little children. In my opinion, one of the truest pictures of our wonderful country is the combination of kids and hockey!
My goal is to make a minimum donation of $20,000 to the Sick Kids Foundation. But in order to do so, I require your help. I am asking your company to carry these two prints as we form a partnership to assist such a valuable cause.
Together we can help give our sick children the absolute best care and treatment in the world.
